Over the past few months the Youth Board has been very busy taking evidence from local people on the issues of respect and crime and safety in the first ever South Kilburn Youth Board Select Committee.

The Select Committee is one of the first projects we have worked on since our election. We decided to set up the Select Committee to debate the issues of RESPECT and Crime and Safety. We chose to focus on these issues because we think they are important for everyone in South Kilburn . ‘Respect’ is a buzz word that is being talked about a lot these days, and a lot of us highlighted the issues of crime and safety our election manifestos. We wanted to find out about the fears young people have about crime, as well as those that adults might have of young people.

We hope that this work will help adults and young people to work together better on the things that affect South Kilburn .

We have questioned a number of people over the last few months, including local elected members, Government special advisors from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, Brent Youth Service, local Police, Community Wardens, local residents a local business man, and a journalist who works on the local newspaper.
