The Campaign Company
This project has been managed on behalf of SKNDC by
The Campaign Company. We believe that a successful youth
engagement strategy should have at its heart the involvement
of young people in its design and delivery. This then
ensures that communications are relevant and on young
people’s terms. An example of our approach is that we always
recruit a reference group of young people to work with us on
projects from the outset. In South Kilburn this has not only
ensured that the programme is appropriate and well targeted,
but it has also given the reference group a stake in the
project, and the sense of ‘ownership’ that is essential to
any meaningful youth engagement activity.
In our work we also aim to achieve engagement with young
people beyond those who are currently actively engaged. We
strive to identify harder to reach young people and socially
excluded groups in our research and through work with
reference groups. We then target engagement measures to
achieve an agreed, measurable degree of participation from
such audiences. In South Kilburn we have worked closely with
local youth service providers as well as schools to ensure
that we reach out to as many young people as possible,
including those from harder to reach groups.
The Campaign Company has a track record of using
traditional and innovative techniques to enable statutory
and voluntary organisations, companies, and individuals to
connect better with their users and the wider community. We
specialise in developing individual and organisational
performance through the process of engagement. Crucially, we
recognise that it is not enough simply to raise awareness –
all communications must be designed to propel people to take
action.
We currently work with a number of organisations in the
area of youth engagement for example Wakefield Council,
London Borough of Lewisham, Barnsley Hospital NHS Trust and
South Kilburn New Deal for Communities. We have also worked,
and are working with other local authorities, voluntary
organisations and international political parties in the
field of engagement.
